hi, i'm aaron
As a certified Integral Coach™, I bring 30 years of leading teams in corporate environments like Amazon, Google, Disney, and NBCUniversal, and designing experiences that bring people together in museums, theaters, and classrooms. I have two grown daughters whom I am enormously proud of. I love the outdoors, live music, all the animals, playing guitar, and making things. Community service, creative expression, kindness, and compassion are important to me. And I am a bookworm. You can see what I am currently reading here.
Five years ago, after decades of doing everything I could to manage serious health challenges, ones that trace back to a near-death experience that changed what I understood to be real, my body stopped me. Lifelong migraines and cancer brought me to a threshold I didn't choose. That's when everything I had been carrying finally came into sharp focus, and the path in front of me became clear.
the way forward
What followed was the hardest, but most clarifying, stretch of my life. I navigated it using a wide range of practices, from Western medicine and therapy, across somatic healing and meditation, to psychedelic-assisted therapy. That journey felt like coming back to life. It gave me the gift of clarity about what actually creates change in a person and eventually led me to train as a coach.
As I found my new footing, I retrained. I went back to graduate school, then earned certification in Integral Coaching® through Integral Coaching Canada, one of the most rigorous developmental training programs available, and trained in the ethics of power through the Right Use of Power Institute™. My learning is ongoing. The same capacities this work asks of my clients are asked of me as the coach.
I know the experience of surviving before I could start to actually live. Childhood adversity, the grief of divorce, the harder lessons of professional and personal mistakes, and my own creative life going quiet more than once, all shaped how I understand what people carry and how to move forward.
I live with nervous system patterns shaped by complex trauma, including symptoms that overlap with ADHD. I am thriving with it, rather than despite it.
I bring all of that experience into my coaching approach.
